7.1 What … like?
We use What + be + subject + like? to ask for a description.
What's the weather like? — It's cold and rainy.What was the hotel like? — It was amazing.📌 Note
What is she like? asks about personality/appearance.
How is she? asks about health/feelings.
7.2 Comparative and superlative adjectives
| Type | Comparative | Superlative |
|---|
| Short (1 syllable) | add -er: old → older | add -est: oldest |
| Short ending in CVC | double consonant: big → bigger | biggest |
| Ending in -y | change to -ier: happy → happier | happiest |
| Long (2+ syllables) | more + adj: more interesting | most interesting |
| Irregular | good → better / bad → worse | best / worst |
She's taller than her brother. This is the most expensive restaurant in town.📌 Note
Use
as … as for equality:

📌 Note
In defining relative clauses you can omit
who / which / that when it is the object:
The book (that) I read was great.
